Reigning Rolex Shanghai Masters champion No. 2 Jannik Sinner, No. 3 Alexander Zverev, No. 7 Alex de Minaur, No. 8 Lorenzo Musetti and No. 9 Karen Khachanov are the Top 10 seeds in top half of the draw in second round action on Saturday. In addition, Chinese players Bu Yunchaokete and Shang Juncheng look to reach the third round for the first time. Here are Saturday's Stadium Court match-ups in order of play:

* Camilo Ugo Carabelli (ARG) vs [7] Alex de Minaur (AUS) -- First Meeting

CARABELLI
- The 26-year-old Argentine made a successful Shanghai debut on Thurday as he was tied 4-4 in the first set when Terence Atmane retired due to heat problems. The win snapped a three-match first round losing streak.
- The No. 3 Argentine comes in ranked No. 45, just two spots off his career-high on August 18. He is looking for his first career Top 10 win (0-6).
- Has won a career-best 18 matches this season (14-11 on clay, 4-7 on hard, 0-3 on grass)
- His best results have come on clay with four semi-finals in Rio de Janeiro (l. to eventual champion Baez), Santiago,  Bastad and Umag.

DE MINAUR
- The 26-year-old Aussie is making his fourth Shanghai appearance (2-3) with his best result the third round in his 2018 debut (l. to No. 5 Zverev). Lost in opening round matches in last two visits in 2019 (l. to Isner in 1R) and 2023 (l. to Marozsan in 2R-1R bye).
- The No. 1 Aussie enters with a 47-18 match record on the season (34-11 on hard, 10-5 on clay, 3-2 on grass) and he's closing in on 300 career tour-level wins (296-173).
- His best result was winning his sixth career ATP Tour title in Washington (d. Davidovich Fokina) in July. Also runner-up in Rotterdam in February (l. to No. 3 Alcaraz) and best Grand Slam results were quarter-finals at Australian Open (l. to No. 1 Sinner) and US Open (l. to Auguer-Aliassime).

* [3] Alexander Zverev (GER) vs [Q] Valentin Royer (FRA) -- First Meeting

ZVEREV
- The 28-year-old German is appearing in Shanghai for the seventh time (12-6) and his best results are a final in 2019 (l. to No. 4 Medvedev) and semi-final in 2018 (l. to No. 3 Djokovic).
- Has a 47-20 record on the season (23-10 on hard, 18-7 on clay, 6-3 on grass) with his best result coming on home soil in Munich where he won his 24th career title in Munich (d. Shelton). Began season by reaching his third Grand Slam final at Australian Open (l. to No. 1 Sinner).
- Looking to qualify for the season-ending Nitto ATP Finals in Turin for the eighth time in nine years (except 2022).
- Comes in ranked No. 3 and will finish in Top 10 for the eighth time in nine years (No. 12 in 2022). Has finished in Top 3 twice -- No. 3 in 2021 and No. 2 last year.

ROYER
- The 24-year-old Frenchman was the No. 2 seed in qualifying and he won both matches in straight sets. Made his main draw debut on Thursday and defeated Mariano Navone 3-6 6-4 6-4. He is facing his first career Top 10 opponent.
- Has an 8-6 match record on the season (7-4 on hard, 1-1 on grass, 0-1 on clay) with his best result coming in his previous tournament where he reached his first ATP Tour final in Hangzhou as a qualifier. Earned his biggest career win over No. 14 Rublev in second round before losing to No. 19 Alexander Bublik in two tie-breaks. Prior to this season had never played a tour-level main draw match.
- Has a 34-11 Challenger record this season (29-8 on clay, 5-2 on hard, 0-1 on grass) with two clay titles in four finals - in Kigali-1 and 2 in Rwanda in March.
- Has climbed from No. 186 at the end of last year to a career-high No. 76 coming into Shanghai (from No. 88 in Hangzhou).

* Daniel Altmaier (GER) vs [2] Jannik Sinner (ITA)-- Series Tied 1-1 (last meeting: 2023 Roland-Garros 2R, Altmaier 6-7(0)   7-6(7) 1-6 7-6(4) 7-5; first meeting: 2022 US Open 1R, Sinner 5-7 6-2 6-1 3-6 6-1)

ALTMAIER
- The 27-year-old German won his first Shanghai match in second appearance on Thursday, defeating Aussie qualifier Tristan Schoolkate 6-3 6-4.
- The No. 2 German at No. 49 (behind Zverev) has won a personal-best 18 matches (11-13 on hard, 6-7 on clay, 1-3 on grass). He is closing in on surpassing his career-high ranking of No. 47 on Oct. 2, 2023.
- His best results of season are back-to-back quarter-finals in Rotterdam as a LL (d. No. 19 Fils in 2R, l. to No. 8 de Minaur) and Marseille (l. to Medjedovic). His best Grand Slam showing was 4R at Roland-Garros (l. to Tiafoe).
- Will finish in PIF ATP Rankings for fifth straight year and looking to finish in Top 50 for first time. His previous year-end best was No. 56 in 2023.

SINNER
- The 24-year-old Italian superstar comes in as defending champion and also after capturing his 21st career tour-level title in Beijing (d. Tien) on Wednesday. He became fourth player to win three or more titles this year on ATP Tour, joining Alcaraz (8), Bublik (4) and Darderi (3).
- He is making his third straight Shanghai appearance and has an 8-1 record and last year beat Djokovic in final. Made his debut in 2023 and lost in 4R to No. 20 Shelton.
- Comes in with a 42-5 record on season (23-2 on hard, 11-2 on clay, 8-1 on grass) and four of his losses have come to rival Alcaraz - in finals of Rome, Roland-Garros, Cincinnati and US Open). His only other loss came to Bublik in 2R of Halle.
- Repeated Australian Open title, won first Wimbledon crown and reached finals at Roland-Garros and US Open. Became only fourth man in Open Era to reach all four Grand Slam singles finals, joining Djokovic (three times), Federer (three times) and Laver (1969, also 1962).
- Since losing to No. 20 Shelton at 2023 ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai, he is 63-0 vs. opponents ranked outside Top 10

* [9] Karen Khachanov vs [WC] Shang Juncheng(CHN) -- First Meeting

KHACHANOV
- The 29-year-old is making his sixth Shanghai appearance and has reached 3R twice - in 2019 (l. to Fognini) and 2023 (l. to Dimitrov).
- Comes in with a 30-20 match record (13-11 on hard, 9-6 on clay, 8-3 on grass) and best result of season was a runner-up at ATP Masters 1000 Toronto (d. No. 3 Zverev in SF, l. to Shelton in 3rd set TB) in August.
- Also semi-finalist in Barcelona (l. to Rune) and Halle (l. to Bublik) and best Grand Slam result was quarter-finals at Wimbledon (l. to No. 5 Fritz).
- Looking to finish in Top 10 for first time in career and best year-end ranking was No. 11 in 2018 when he won a personal-high 46 matches. Will finish in Top 20 for seventh time in last eight years (except No. 29 in 2021).

SHANG
- The 20-year-old left-hander opened with a 6-4 3-6 6-3 win over American Aleksandar Kovacevic on Thursday to advance to second round for second straight year.
- He was sidelined from January until August with a foot injury but returned to ATP Tour in Toronto in July. His PIF ATP Ranking has dropped to No. 237 and just over a year ago he reached a career-high No. 47 on Oct. 21, 2024.
- Began season with a semi-final in Hong Kong (ret. vs. Nishikori) and retired in first round at Australian Open (vs. Davidovich Fokina). Did not return until Toronto in July. Has a 2-5 record since returning to action (5-7 overall).
- Last year became first Chinese player to win an ATP Tour title on home soil in Chengdu (d. No. 19 Musetti).
- Looking for first career Top 10 win (0-6) and last time he faced a Top 10 opponent came here one year ago  (l. to Alcaraz 6-2 6-2 in 2R).
