The 2026 revivals of Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas collide Wednesday in the fourth round of the Rolex Shanghai Masters.

Medvedev, the 2019 champion, was World No. 18 when he arrived in Shanghai last year. A run to the semi-finals and 43 match wins this year have returned the 2021 US Open champion to No. 6 and put him in strong contention to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals.

Tsitsipas, the former World No. 3, was No. 88 in June after battling back problems and poor form. But after defeating Taylor Fritz in the third round to claim his 34th win of the year, the former Roland Garros finalist is back inside the Top 40. He claimed his 400th career victory in the second round against Luciano Darderi.

“It is a statement. It's a great win,” Tsitsipas said of his win over Fritz, in which he hit both his forehand and backhand with conviction.

Medvedev leads their head-to-head series 10-5, but the Greek won their last meeting convincingly on hard court in Doha in February.

“It's a big match,” Tsitsipas said. “He can defend a lot of great shots that I have been able to hit against him in the past.”

Medvedev has 32 hard-court wins this season, just one behind Zverev, highlighted by titles in Brisbane, Dubai and Hangzhou. The former World No. 1, who spent 16 weeks at the top of the rankings, reached the semi-finals last year and the quarter-finals in 2025.

Medvedev and Tsitsipas kick off the night session from 6 p.m. local time.

Belgian Zizou Bergs will be out for revenge in the final match of the evening session when he takes on 15th seed Tommy Paul, who claimed a crushing 6-1, 6-2 win on hard court in Indian Wells in March.

Both will go into the match high on confidence, with Bergs having defeated former World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the third round and Paul breezing past defending champion Valentin Vacherot.

Botic van de Zandschulp and 12th seed Rafael Jodar kick off the day session from 12 noon in a first-time meeting.

Spanish 20-year-old Jodar claimed his 40th match win of the year with a gritty victory over Jiri Lehecka in the third round. Dutchman van de Zandschulp is seeking his second consecutive upset after beating World No. 11 Arthur Fils.

Second up in the day session are World No. 5 Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime and former World No. 2 Casper Ruud.

Auger-Aliassime has 37 match wins on the year and is looking to shore up his place at the Nitto ATP Finals by reaching the Shanghai quarter-finals for the second consecutive year.

Ruud claimed his 30th win of the year by beating Learner Tien in the third round. If he can upset the Canadian, Ruud will have reached the quarter-finals at all nine ATP Masters 1000s.
